About

Built on a workshop floor, in Paarl.

Not in a boardroom from a competitor's feature list. Every screen in Upshift exists because somebody at a counter needed it that week.

Why it exists

It started as somebody else's problem

A performance and diagnostics workshop was running its invoicing on international software that charged in dollars, knew nothing about vehicles, and put its prices up as the customer list grew. Registrations lived in a notes field. Service history lived in the owner's head. Every quote was retyped as an invoice by hand.

None of that is a software problem you solve by reading reviews. So we built the thing the workshop actually needed, next to the people doing the work, and fixed it in the order they hit the problems.

That is still how it is built. Someone at a front desk says “this looks wrong when I print it” and it gets fixed that week — not put on a roadmap for a quarter.

How we build it

Four things we will not trade away

Every product page says it cares. These are specific enough to hold us to.

The document is sacred

The invoice is the only part of your system your customer ever sees. It gets more care than anything else — including being printed on a real office laser and looked at on paper before it ships.

A design that looked good on screen but came off the printer as a streaky grey slab got rebuilt. Twice.

Nothing surprises your customers

Anything that emails the people who trust you is off by default and switched on by you. Chasing money stays a decision made by someone who knows the person.

No meters

We do not count your customers, your invoices or your staff. The moment a price depends on your success, the software stops being on your side.

Say it plainly

In the product and on this website. If something has a limit, we would rather write it down than let you find it in month four.

Who it is for

South African independent workshops

General service and repair

The workshop doing services, brakes, clutches and diagnostics for a town's worth of regular customers.

Performance and specialist shops

Tuning, ECU work and fitment, where the quote is detailed, the parts are specific and the customer asks questions.

Anyone invoicing against a registration

If the job is attached to a vehicle rather than to a person, the whole system is shaped the way you already think.

Rand pricing, VAT at the South African rate, tax-invoice compliance, and dates and amounts formatted the way they are read here. Not an American product with a currency switch.

A small company, with a real address and a phone number that a person answers. When something breaks you are not opening a ticket in a queue behind four thousand other workshops.

Come and break it.
